PRE-CRUISE

I flew direct from Newark on Air Canada; arrived Thursday night; overnight at JWMarriott in Vancouver; arrived at cruise port Friday at 1.30; boarding started at 2: heard from a number of passengers that later on lines became long and disorganized (are a number of cruise ships leaving around same time all emanating from similar spot);

👁 Tip #1: Arrive early!

CABIN

Veranda Suite; large, quiet, a lot of space, great storage, nice walk in closet, plenty of outlets, comfortable queen size bed with pillow choices; bathroom with separate tub, and shower with great hot water pressure; veranda with two lounges and table.

👁 Tip #2: All veranda cabins (excluding suites)are essentially the same size; you just pay more for higher, more central cabin.

DINING

Breakfast had 3 options, buffet in La Terrazza , a la carte at Atlantide, or in room service.

Lunch: buffet at La Terrazza, the Grill, Spaccanapoli

Dinner: Atlantide, Indochine, La Terrazza, La Dame, Kaiseki, the Grill, Silver Note, In-Room

Overall food was very good; outstanding presentation ; favorites were Atlantide, Indochine, Silver Note, and La Dame. Of note La Dame and Kaiseki were additional charges. New York Strip, which is my standard meat evaluator on upscale cruises, was only mediocre, too thin.

👁 Tip #3: Don’t be afraid to double up on appetizers and entrees; food portions are on the smaller side, and hey, your on vacation.

👁 Tip #4: Order room service; did it for breakfast, and mid afternoon snacking; caviar on the menu!

SERVICE

Room kept immaculate by steward; bartenders always offering their mixology; dining staff excellent and attentive; each suite assigned a butler who delivered and set up the room service.

ACTIVITIES

Internet included for 1 devise per person; slow

On ship: Bingo, Trivia, Dance Classes, Mixology Classes, enrichment lectures, evening shows, late night disco

👁 Tip #5: You get points for participation; at the end you can cash in the points for t shirts, pens, mugs, etc; so save your points!

EXCURSIONS

Silversea for now includes certain excursions at no additional cost. But, they fill up early so need to book as soon as possible.

👁 Tip #6: Book your restaurant reservations and excursions as soon as the window opens up, which can be up to 6 months before your trip
